What Is Estate Planning?
Estate planning is the process of creating legal documents, such as a Will, Trust, Health Care Directive and Power of Attorney, to govern the many actions and tasks that need to be handled in the event of your incapacity or when you die.
Even if you do not create legal documents to handle your affairs in the event of your incapacity or death, the state has created a default estate plan for you. You can use estate planning to proactively change the state’s default plan.
